Asked Questions

What’s a potable water tank?

Water tanks can be classified as ‘potable’ and ‘non potable’. If you are storing clean water for human consumption, whether it be for drinking, prepping food or cleaning dishes etc, then a potable water tank is what you are after. All potable tanks must conform to the WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) so that the liquid is safe for human consumption.

Non-potable tanks are for the safe storage of non-drinking water or for ‘not suitable’ for human consumption, in many different environments and applications. Non-potable tanks can be used in applications like rainwater harvesting, irrigation, agriculture & horticulture and commercial purposes where mains water is not available.

The difference in classification between the two comes from the materials used during the manufacturing process, specifically the type of plastic used to line the inside of the tank which comes into contact with the contained water. Non potable tanks are more porous, making it easier for the bacteria to grow and can sometimes let off gases which can contaminate the water. The WRAS approved material lines the inside of the tank, making the tank fit for human consumption, either ingested or used on the skin.

What materials are the plastic tanks manufactured from?

The Versatile Series Tanks are manufactured from medium density recyclable polyethylene for endurance and strength, they are compact and strong.
The Tanks light weight and stable design makes for easy transportation and installation.

Water pressure low?

There are many reasons for experiencing low water pressure problems including high demand, location and shared supply.

The Aquabox Systems Series is a self-contained cold water booster set specifically designed for use in domestic and light commercial properties where existing water pressure and flow is insufficient to meet demand. The range caters for all space and storage capacity requirements.

Water Pressure vs. Water Flow

Pressure is defined in the general sense as “continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it.” Water pressure specifically is the force exerted on your water to push it through your pipes and larger plumbing system. Water pressure is modulated through attitude—i.e. if you live in a city with a water tower, the higher that water tower is, the greater amount of pressure you will find in your water supply. Water pressure is also affected by gravity. Because water is denser in the air, water pressure can change through even slight adjustments in the position and height of your plumbing equipment.

Flow, meanwhile, is defined as “the action or fact of moving along in a steady, continuous stream.” When it comes to plumbing, your water flow is the amount of water passing through your pipes at any given time. The flow of water in your plumbing system is determined largely by the width of your pipes and the amount of pressure surging through them. Pipes with a small width, for instance, supply water at a lower flow rate than pipes with a wider width. Simultaneously, higher water pressure will disperse water at a greater flow rate. The more taps and plumbing equipment you have in use at the same time, the harder it will be for your system to disperse pressure evenly, meaning that the water you receive will come out at a lower flow rate.

What is the purpose of a "Complete water booster Set"?

The Aquabox System combats  your main water short supply, implementing a  light and durable Potable water tanks designed to store water for all your water demands. Including a high quality pump and controller system to insure high, constant and reliable water pressure when you need it most.

Why can't I just use a pump?

Water Authority by-laws prevent a pump being directly connected to the mains supply, so when your mains water pressure needs a boost, a break tank must be incorporated into the system. There is an exemption for pumps up to 12 L/min but this is not guaranteed and relies on your mains being capable of delivering this volume. To put this into context, a single shower typically requires between 9-15 L/min.

Where can my Aquabox Systems Series be installed?

The Aquabox Systems Series has been designed to provide the end user with a variety of options in terms of water storage, usage requirements and maximising space. Typical installation areas include garages, plant rooms, utility rooms and basements. These units are to be installed in a safe and secure manner. The use of drip trays is highly recommended.

What size property will this supply?

The Aquabox Systems have been designed  to fit all your domestic and commercial needs and can accommodate additional slave tank for larger properties or those with higher water demands.

What happens if my tank runs dry?

The  Aquabox Systems Series have you covered with an incredibly reliable controller will turn off the pump if there is no water in the tank. It will automatically reset after a short delay allowing the water volume in the tank to recover. This pump protection feature ensures a long and happy life for the pump.

What is the difference between the fixed speed and the variable speed version?

Fixed speed refers to how the controller operates the pump – you can’t choose a speed it’s fixed so the pump is either on or off. … The controller senses a drop in pressure to start the pump e.g. when a tap or shower is turned on a drop in pressure in the pipework is sensed and the pump kicks in.

The Variable Speed controller will be set so that it keeps the outlet pressure of the pump constant, no matter what flow is required out of the pump – maintaining a smooth water delivery.
